In times of the omnipresence of sophisticated digital cameras, analog techniques of lo-fi photography like the simple pinhole camera get new identity-creating meanings. The “DIY Pinhole DSLR” workshop aims at pushing the parameters of self-made pinhole “lenses” to the limit. In addition to the aesthetic experiment, the camera obscura offers an optimal training object for the introduction to the basics of exposure and photographic design, since the technical limitations of the pinhole camera are compensated with techniques such as long-exposure and stitching.
